How To Make Poop Emoji Cookies

  1. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees.
  2. To make a meringue, put the egg whites and cream of tartar into a standing mixer.
  3. Mix the ingredients on medium speed until they reach the consistency of soft peaks. Then, increase the speed to a higher setting.
  4. Gradually add 1 tablespoon of sugar and powdered sugar at a time, alternating between the two, until stiff peaks form.
  5. After mixing the ingredients well, pour in the vanilla extract and add a few drops of food coloring to enhance the color if desired.
  6. Start by using a pastry bag with a circle tip to pipe the meringues onto a baking sheet. Begin with a large circle and work your way down to a smaller one to create a shape that resembles poop.
  7. Bake for one hour and twenty minutes.
  8. Leftover meringue can be used to attach the eyes to the cooked meringues.

This fun cookie contains quite a bit of sugar and also a food coloring. From a healthy eating perspective, it would be advisable to replace sugar with natural alternatives (erythritol/stevia), and the brown color can be achieved using cocoa powder, which would also give the cookies a chocolatey flavor. I can't recommend this cookie as a healthy snack, but considering that one cookie has only 75 calories, you can certainly fit it into your healthy diet as a small treat. Let's not forget that even in the healthiest diet, it's acceptable to allocate 10% of calories for fun and enjoyment, rather than just 'clean' food.

My daughter is really into emojis, particularly the poop emoji, so for her birthday this year I baked some poop emoji cookies to share with her classmates. They were a big hit! The recipe I used is German, which means the cookies were not very sweet and quite dry. In Germany, cookies are typically enjoyed with tea or coffee. I plan on making them again for Halloween.
